ROOSEVELT AND THE

SENATE

IS IT AN IMPEACHMENT ?

(Baciunine äervice, supplied by Bouter,

via Bombay.)

Loxos, January 9. Daring a debate in the Senate a messenger from President Roosevelt

arrived with a mmber of minor messages, and was jeered at and compelled to wait until the conclusion of business.

President Roosevelt has published details of investigations of the conduct of detectives in reference to Senator Tillman's alleged connection with the Iand-frauds in Oregon.

The Senate has instructed a committee to issue a judiciary report as to whether President Roosevelt was authorised to permit the Steel Trust to absorb the Tennessee Chal-Iron Company.

Speculation is rife in Washington as to whether the Senate's action involves an impeachment of Prezident Roosevelt.

Mr Grist-Quite so; but either they must allow the policy to go for the benefit of all speditors or also pay the premiums themselves.

His Lordship intimated that he thought the examination should be closed, and the creditors could make a scheme song
