A most daring robbery was attempted at the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank between seven and eight o'clock on Friday evening. It appears that the bank was open later than twual owing to a Chinese mail arxiving and a native is alleged to have seized a roll {of $2,000, having seen a favourable op. portunity. However, he did not get away so easy as be no doubt expected for he was arrested as he was leaving the premises of the bank, an alarm having been raised.
Prisoner was brought before Mr J. R Wood at the Magistracy, to-day, and the case was remanded until Monday.
