That the Oriental: vice of bribery in olicial quarters has not yet been eradicated from the Egyptian service, in spite of 20 yenrs' British Administration, is aloski gly evident in the disclosuros published with fegard to the parts and lighthouses admi- nistration. A Government decree has just beon jssted expelling the Director of Survices, Socrates Boy Spiro, the highest non-European official in the Admi nistration, expelling likewise the Chief of the Stal Office, the Inspector of Alexandris Barbour, the Captain of the Part of Rosetia, and severs) minor officials.. All are charged with petty leihory and corruption, carried out with true Oriental objects.
