in the Kasimir himalayas have been received. The explocars camped at 20,730 feat on July 27th, and the following day having discovered that the highest Nuo Kú peak could not be attempted because of the impossibility of portere carrying loads over nearly 3,010 foot of sharp erstes rising at from 60 degrees to 70 degrees incline, the party pushed up the rising plataan to the base of the second peak, and bivouacked. Camp America" was pitched at 21,200 fent, the highest camp yet made by moun- taineers. To this point Italian porters carried loads of 40 pound. They then returned to bring up the remaining loads. The weather became so bad that they could not re-ascend that day and Mrs Bullock Workiau prased the night alone in the fog and the severe cold of minus degroes Fabrenheit. On the morning of the 29th with a temperature of zero Guide Savage and two potters arrived at 7-60 at Camp America, when as soon as the frozen boots could be, get on, five mountain- cara left for the pesk, cutting steps for four houre over the sharp slopes, and renched 22,800 feet. A halt for food was made and Dr Bullook Workman and one porter remained and Mrs Bullock Work. man, Guide Savage, and une porter con tipped the difficult arcent of the peak 23,160 feet high. The view although somewhat marred by cloud was very grand, extending ever miles of the lower ranges to Nenga Pabat and the Karakoram. Mrs Bollock Work an in climbing to over 23,00 feet now holde the world's altitude record with Dr Workman and the two other men who have attained this height. The party PAR counited and siter a hazardowe descent in the noftened snow reached tho amp before sunset. Next morning the minimum temperature was minus 6 degrees Falivephalt, or 35 degress of frost. In two days the base camp was reached. six nights having been passed on the snow at great altitudes. The guides and porters with one exception stood the test of carry- ing loads at high altitudes well, although the whole party suffered constantly from Interest- eleeplessness after 19,000 feet.
ing new observations on the effects of high altitudes, were made, as well as eun temperatures taken.
