He nga that it could ho rosched at an outlay at one-fourth of what it cost to build the New York subway, and that it would furnish comfortable bemes for billions of poople. The interior has a very equable ellato owing to the fact that light and #mth are admitted from hoth Paler und that the warmth is distributed evenly and systematically. Only a very small part of the interior receives direct sunlight but

there is a bright twilight in the greater part

The bolest the North Pole is about 1,000 miles in diameter at the South 1,50) miles.

There are many facts that tend to prove that the interior is inhabited-the existence of nutritions vegetation beyond 60 degrees N., the abundance of shimal and bird Ufe, and the discovery of many objects made by man, but not attributable to any of the upper earth Eskimos,

Greely writes thus of the extreme 'Aretic region:

Bight varieties of floware were seen, and muskogen were quietly grazing about three-quarters of a mile away, aloping hills were covered with vegotation, the familiar battercups, and countless Arctic poppies of luxuriant growth. Edar ducks were in great numbers."

Mr Reed asks, from what place bad those birds come? South of them for many 1527 miles the earth is covered, with perpetual snow-thousands of fost deep. They are found in that location in Summer and

Ks it in Farmer farther North they would not be likely to migrate to a colder climate in Winter." He believes they pass into the interior of the earth. THE HONGKONG LAND INVEST far se hits their nature. Swarms of suka wero sleo, seansu plentiful that they MENT & AGENCY Co., LD.
