FINE FIELD FOR GOTTON-

GROWING.

LONDON, June 26. The International Union of Cotton Industrialiste, sitting in Berlin, has urged the Importados of Britain co-operating with Germany in the constraction of the Baghdad Railway, and the irrigation of Mesopotamia, which, in their opinion.. resents a deo field for cotton-growing.

"EXECUTION" OF IMPERIAL

MINISTERS.

The East Rand Express of May 12 gives the following particulars of the execution, in offigy of Sir Henry Campbell-Donor- man and the Under-Secretary for the Colonies. The incident followed a meeting which was held at Boksburg, on May 9, to protest against the assisted repatriation of the Chinese. The account says:** While the speeches were proceeding, s nuinber of men detached themselves from the gather jng, and in a abort eques of time a donk's grilows, 30 foot in height joined by ǹ cross- har, and kept in position by dire utsya, wan run up onar ibe Murkat House. A crowd rapidly rathored, and attontien was drawn to a trolley with heavily boarded sidee; bearing funeral emblers. Beveral the more aurious spectators attempted to discover what was inside, but a number of miners, sacre in abirt sleeves, kept watch and guard. As the final resolution was carried The drivers of the Tybure Omnibus whipped up the six nyha, and the lumbering vehicle started of up the rod en route to the gallowe. The meaning of the weird amblems WAR guo send. A grest shout want up as # life-nizo efgy of Sir Henry Campbell- Banparman, sosted in a chair, was bristed from the bottom of the car, The bowl of axearation was even greater when the Under-Secretary for the Colonies was lifted to view by willing hands.
