SHARE REPORT.

In their wookly share report, dated 1st December, Messrs Vernoh and Smyth stato :-

Although we have no improvement to report in ratos, a slightly better tone has beon apparent in the market during the week under review. An Impression zoema to be gaining ground, among holders of stocks, that the recont steady rise in sterl- ing exchange is not merely a fine in the pan, but has come to stay, at any rate for some time. The hasty rash to realize stocks for the sake of remitting money home has consequently been, to a certain extent, checked, and holders seem to be more content to wait for a better opportunity of realizing than the present affordę. · Ex, on London T.T. 3/1

Banks-Hongkong and Shanghais, with shares still in the market and no buyers, ~have failed to maintain their position and sales have been effected at 8875, at which a fow odd lots have changed hands. A small demand at that rate however oxists at time of closing without meeting with a response. Nationals unchanged and without business.

Marine Insurances-Unions are procur- able_inmaillots at 8750, but without sales. In Cantone we have nothing to Teport. China Traders have been placed at 188, 8881 and 889, during the wast closing firm at the last rate. North Chinas have ruled quict with small sales at Tis. $024 Yangtezes without any local busi- neys are quoted lower in “hangbai at $170. Fire Insurances.-longkonge have changed hands at $936 and sales of Chinas

are reported at 186.
