CABLE RATES:
Reduction Sought,
Sir Edward Bassoon introduced deputation to the Chancellor of the Ex- chequer on June 8 on the aphjeat of a reduction in the cable rates to to India, China and West Africs. He said that for the past two years they had been waiting for the results of a reduction in rates, while
a material increase in cablo mileage was taking place. The rate to India had been roduced from 49, to 2s. 6d., and they wished for a further reduction to 28. a word, with a- corresponding reduction in the Press rate. As to the West African rates.
rates, these had been reduced from the ridiculously high figures, but they were still too high, and they compared unfavourably with what our French competitors actually paid. Then the rates to China also re- quired further reduction, Then as to the so'fis cable, that had reduced the rates to Asia from Australia from de. 10d. to 2s. 64. s word, and we had now direct communication with the continent of Africa through it. Chas. Forde the discoverer of this substance, had long been impressed with the remarkable freedom from disesse of the Australian natives,
On this subject the great Captain Cook wrote: I did not observe (amongst the natives) any appanratoo of diseara or bodily complaint or eruption of the skin. Very old men without air and teeth showed no signs of decrepitude, and were full of vivacity. There must be noune reason for this, and Chas. The following table is a chronologically arranged list of mail steamer sailings to Europe, America, Canada, and Australia. Coast ports, Manila, and Japan are not given, for steamers are constantly sailing for those ports. All the American steamers call at Japan, and the majority of the Australian boats call at Manila, and, in addition to those vessels, special steamers run there. On their appearance Bilo Beans--the product of modern science-had to com- pote against the ancient and imperfect Sept. 9% medicines which had been before the public-Supt.--13. for nearly half a century, but the public Sept. 19 soon decided in their favour, and Bile Beans are now the most widely used family medicine; over three-quarers of a million doses being taken daily,
Do not he misled by claims of half a hundred pills in the bottle, where probably four to six constitutes a dose, and the dosos cannot be discontinued. Ono Bile Boan is one dose, and they can be discon tinued after he cure is effected. They are purely vegetable; they contain no barmful drugs, and they are the safest family medicine.
Bile Boans are a cure for indigestion, debility, biliou ness, constipation, piles, nervousness, arcemia, female ailments, weakness, pains in the back, sleeplessness, loss of appetite, congestion of the liver, headache; fatalence, pimplos, skin erup. | tions, and a host of ailments having a com mon orgin in impurity of the blood-a general congestion of the system, and loss of vital force.
