AMOY, July 15; The native community of Amoy is more excited then I have seen it for many a long

year. The whole town is in a state of ferment for it has been decided that the Americane shall be boycotted from to morrow morning. For a week or two

placards have been freely distributed throughout Amoy, and over the whole of Kulangsou, preparing the minds of the people for this most serious step. Every shop has been visited and indeed overy dwelling house, and formidable-looking. documents have been given to each with the intimation that the inmates must pre- pare themselves to fall into line with the new movement.

This decision has been come to by some irresponsible committee who have not the

In this document the reasons are assigned such peremptory measures should be taken with the Americans and why they of all the nationalities of the Weat ahould be treated with such severity by the whole of the Chinese Empire.

The terms of the boycotting are then laid down with unusual lucidity and clear- ness. No trade is to be carried on with

them and no service of any kind is to bo rendered to them. They are to be absolute- ly cut adrift and treated as though they did. not exist. They are declared to be the en- emies of the yellow race and consequently

Whether there is any truth in this re

A LAND SALE.

Important Discussion.

An interesting point cropped up

in the

Original Jurisdiction of the Supreme Court,

this morning. The case was one in which Leung Hang'sued Pang Chin Ngo and Law Un Sang for $11,718.33, being damages for breach of covenant for the quiet enjoy ment of all that piece of land registered in the Land Office as Section A of Samsuipo Lot No. 12, comprised and assured by an indenture of assignment dated June 20, 1900 made between the plaintiff on one part and the defendants on the other.

The Chief Justice, Sir Francis Piggott, was on the bench.

The meeting considered the advisability of conducting the competition under Loigue rules instead of under the Cup Tie system, which was in force last year. This was ultimately agreed to, and it was also agreed to count two points for a win and one for a drawn game. The result of this resolu. tion will bo that instead of playing

a total of five matches, each team will have to meet every other team which will give a total of fifteen games.

The teams participating are:-Hongkong Royal Yacht Club (amalgamated with the Hongkong Boat Club), 83rd Company R. G. A.; 87th Company R. G. A., and three teams from the V. R. O. (A,' 'B,' and respectively).

The first round is to be played off before July 31, and the draw has resulted as follows:-H. K. R. Yacht Club r. 'B' team; 83rd Company. A team; 87th Company v. O'team..

The V. R. C. teams are as follows: A TEAM-J. Witchell, E. Humphreys, R. C. Witchell, C. E. A. Hance, H., Holmes, C. Harrop and P. M. Ro sedios.

Mr H. G. Calthrop (instructed by Mr L.F. d'Almada Castro, of Messrs Brutton, Hets and Goldring) appeared for the plaintiff, Dofendants were unrepresented and did not answer when called.
