Speedy Cure Treatment.
Batho the affected parts with Hot Water and Cuticura Soap, to cleanse the surface of crusts and-scales, and soften the thickened cuticle. Dry, without hard rubbing, and apply Cuticura Ointment freely, to allay itching, Itritatlop, and faflammation, and soothe and heal, and lastly take Cuticura Resolvent Pills, to cool and cleanse the blood. A single set is often sufficient to cure the most torturing, dis- figuring, Itching, burning, scaly, pimply humours, eczemas, rashes, Irritations, and chafftigs, with loss of hair, when all else falis.
The agonizing itching and burning of the skin, as in cozema; the fright- ful scaling, as in psoriasis; the loss of hair and crusting of the scalp, as in Bcalled head; the facial disfigurement, as in pimples and ringworm; the awful suffering of infants and the anxiety of worn-out parents, as in milk crust, tetter, and salt rheum,—all demand a remedy of almost superhuman virtues to successfully cope with them. Such are the CUTICURA remedies, the purest, sweetest, most speedy and economical curatives for the skin, scalp, and blood ever compounded. Mothers are their warmest friends.
Millions of Women Use Cuticura Soap
Assisted by CUTICURA OINTMENT for preserving, parifying, and beautify ing the skin, for cleansing the scalp of crusts, scales, and dandruff, and the stopping of falling hair, for softening, whitening, and soothing red, rough, and sore bands, for baby rashes and chafinge, in the form of baths for annoying irritatione nud inflammations of women, or too free or offensive perspiration, in the form of washes for ulcerative weaknesses, and many Banative, antiseptic purposes which readily suggest themselves, as well as for all the purposes of the toilet, bath, and nursery.
odourleus, economicaksubstitute for the cole brated liquid CUTICURA RESOLVERT, a well as for all other blood purifiers and humour cures. Fut up in screw-cap pocket vinis, containing 60 doses.

LITERARY NOTES,
[FROM HOME PAPERS.]
A statement has been published in some
of the papers concerning a certain lady and dentat gentleman who have had a bal Lynton, while on a tour in connection with a proposed biography of the late R. D. Blackmore. We regret the accident, but we doubt whether literature will lose much sven if these writers are not able to com- plete their (olf-imposed) task. No au- thoritative Life of the auther of “Lorna Doone" is at present possible, for he left | prosise directions with his representatives, which forbid access to his papers. Me Stuart Baidy who know Blackmore wall, and wrote the memoir of him for the Dic- tionary of National Biography, would be the proper person to undertake the task, if is could be undertaken at all. But ho, liko other intimate friends of the novelist, would no doubt, feel that Blackmore's wishes should be respected, And there could bo ho value in any account of Blackmore's quiet life, unless it were founded on per- sonal knowledge and authentic documents.

Some of the rather numerous contingens of London County Councillors from beyond the Tweed were deeply indignant at the ex- clusion of Burns (Robert, not John) from the prize-list, and insisted on the re-instate ment of the bard of Caledonia. But, after all, why should London Board School children want to read Tom o'Shautor and Highland Mary,' or 'Holy Willie's Pra- yer, and what good would they get out of is a great poet, but his writings are not milk for babes.

PERSECUTION OF THE JEWE
IN RUSSIA.
BEBLIN, May 12,-A tolegram to the Local Anselger from St. Petersburg saya —-—-- Terrible details of the persecution of the Jews are arriving from the interior of Russia.”
Besides the awful recounts of Jowbaiting at Zhitomir, still worse doings are reported- from the Government ‹ f Taurida, especially.' in Molltopol, where the Russian inhabitants have deliberately plundered Jews and car. ried off spoil unmolested. Whole streets were completely demolished, and the houses were then flooded with posroleum and set alight. Forty-two shops and ware- houses -containing goods of. the value of £60,000 were absolutely gutted. In the streets themselves regular battles were fought by bands of factory workers and ́ ́peasarits armed with hatchets and crowbars.
