ANOTHER ROYAL ELOPEMENT IN EUROPE.
Romantic Story of Princess and Lieutenant.
BERLIN, August 31. “Princess Louise of Coburg, daughter of the King of the Belgians, whose relations with Herr Keglevitch Mattasisch, the for- mer Lieutenant of the Austrian Army, caused a great scandal in European royal circles seven years ago, and who has since been kept under the closest restraint, han vanished from Badelster, where she had been taking the cure. It is presumed that the Princess is in the company of Mat- tasisch and is seeking to gain an asylum where she will be safe from recapture.
The escaped of the Princess was 1000m- plished in a mysterious and romantio manner. Ladders and a swift automobile were brought into play to effect her release from the hotel where she had been immur her ed almost as a prisoner, and to convey to some refuge, regarding the location of which nothing is known. Not the slightest trace of the whereabouts of the pair has beeh discovered, and nothing is known beyond the fact that the Princess and another guest of the hotel, believed t☛ have been Mattasisch, have disappeared, 1376 and with them the jewels of the Princess
and an automobile.

Princess Louise, accompanied by a lady in waiting and two physicians, who were her warders, came three weeks ago to Ba delster, which is noted as a health resort. On account of the long lapse of time sinco the original scandal, the watch on the Princoss had become slightly relaxed, but it was made more stringent than ever when it was noticed that efforts to communicate with the Princess personally and though the medium of notes were being made.

It ja well-known that on the return of the Bengal explorer, Farat Chandra Das, to India in 1883, a large number of Tibetans were punished for affording Chandra him hospitality and assistance. Das's patron, the Minister of the Tashi Lama, was banished; the head lama of Dengtse Monastery, who entertained him, was removed to Konghu and there thrown into the iver; and numerous others were punished in different parts of the country, many of whom have been released through our influence. He played in the famous Our Boys team, Dundee, and so enthusiastic was he over the game that he used to walk in from Longforgun, where he was engaged as the pupil teacher, to play with the club. Mr Wilkie assisted his club in a very important match against Queen's Park, and so effective was his play against the famous international right wing that a deputation of the Queen's Park in- vited him to join their colours.
