THE TIBET MISSION.

A telegram from Lhassa, dated Septem- bor 7, states that the formal Treaty was signed in the Potala, in the Dalai Lama's apartments.

The ceremonials were perfectly simple and the surroundings moat quaint and picturesque.

The proceedings closed with, a short speech from Colonel Younghusband:

Commenting on the Tibet Mission the Daily Mail says that it has obtained the most valuable rasults, at a comparatively small coat, and warmly congratulates Lord Curzon on his success in his firm and får. sighted policy.

The German Press considers Tibet now

a vassal of Britain, for which reason the

·

trosty is important.

The Daily Chronicle praises Colonel Younghusband's skill and despatch in carrying out the political side of the Tibet Expedition.

The Daily News says that the treaty is equivalent to annexation, and that Lord Curzon's audacious plot has succeeded.

MAIL STEAMER DEPARTURES.

The following table is a chronologically arranged list of mail steamer sailings to Europe, America, Canada, and Australia. Coast ports, Manila, and All Japan are not given, for steamers are constantly sailing for those ports. the American steamers call at Japan, and the majority of the Australian boats call at Manila, and, in addition to those vessels, special steamers run there. The departure of every steamer is subject to alteration. The P. & O. mails usually reach London in about 28 days, and the French and German in about 28 or 30 days.

MOTHER

SEIGEL'S SYRUP

AIDS DIGESTION-CURES INDIGESTION.

Relish for food and power to digest it are essential to sound health, for only by the digestion and assimilation of food can lost or worn-out bodily tissue be replaced and life sustained. When digestion fails, as in dyspepsia or indigestion, both body and brain are starved, the patient becomes languid and weak, incapable of active, vigorous effort, or clear sustained thought, Headaches, loss of appetite, pains after cating, fulness at the chest, palpitation, anæmia and sleeplessness are but a few of the many disorders which bave their origin in imperfect digestion and nutrition. Thirty drops of Mother Seigel's Syrup, taken daily after meals, makes food nourish you. It gives tone and vitality to the stomach, liver and intestines, thus ensuring the thorough digestion and assimilation of food.

HAS CURED THOUSANDS.

"For three years I suffered greatly from biliousness and indigestion. When I sat down to table I could eat hardly anything. Attacks of vomiting made me quite weak, and I was surprised at the change it effected in my condition. On rising in the morning I was seized with dizziness, and had on several occasions, to go back to bed again. I tried various remedies, but remained in quite the same condition. While at Cape Town, during the war, I heard of the wonderful qualities of Mother Seigel's Syrup, and I decided to give it a trial. After the first bottle the dizziness and bilious feeling left me, and I continued using the Syrup until I felt completely cured."-E. Petersen, Lower End, Main Street, Johannesburg March 29th, igo4.

Every afternoon during the week crews of four wore out on the hathour, both from We note the Boat Club and the V.R.C. that a considerable number of grifling were out, which augura woll for the sport. The Boat Club's crows for the Challenge race at the V.R.C. Regatta in December next are likely to be weaker than last year, and the V.R.C. crew will probably be stronger. The crew for the V. R. C. will probably consist of J. Witchell, H. C: Auston, E. P. Musso and T. E. Pearce. The two former are considered to be certainties, while there is a doubt expressed as to the claims of the other two. The rowing of the men in the forthcoming scratch race will exercise some influence on the final selection, for though n crew is chosen beforehand it will be liable to alteration.

Invitation have been sent to. Shanghai, Canton and Singapore to send crows to ongkong to take part in the Interport

The writer has seen an Arab, gun in hand, pass under the neck of his horse and back again into the saddle from the other side. Again, a more common trick is for the rider to have two gun, and, holding his reins in his teeth, fire one from each shoulder simultaneously. The weight of those long-barrelled flintlocks is such that the very putting of two guns to the shoulder is a feat of strength. Most at- tractive of all these varieties of powder play is perhaps that of the man who, while galloping along, keeps his gun spinning round at a great pace, eventually to throw it in the air and catch it upon his turbaned head, where it remains balanced. THERAPION

This successful and highly popular remedy, as employed in the Continental Hospitals by Ricord Kristan, Jobert, Velpean, and others, combines all the desiderata to be sought in a medicine of the kind and surpasses everything hitherto employed.

THERAPION No. 1

in a remarkably short time, often a few days only, remotes all discharges from the urinary organs, superseding injections, the use of which does Irre parable harm by laying the foundation of stricture and other serious diseases.

THERAPION NË 2

for impurity of the blood, scurvy, pimples, spots, blotches, pains and swelling of the joints, secon- dary symptomus, gout, rheumatism, and all diseases for which it has been too much a fashion, to ven- ploy mercury, sarsaparilla, &c., to the destruction of sufferers' tect and ruin of health. This pro paration purifies the whole system through the blood, and thoroughly eliminates every poisonous matter from the body.

THERAPION No. 3

for nervousczbaustion, impaired vitality, sleepless neas, and all the distressing conseruences of carly, error, excess, residence in bot, unhealthy climates, &c. It possesses surprising power in restoring strength and vigour to the debilitated..
