LONDON LETTER.

(From Our Special Correspondent.)

LONDON, June 3.

Some things the London County Council doca well. They have not yet. restored to us our penny ateamboats (though this will soon come), but they do supply us with music in the parks, and this year we too have the special attraction of the pipera belonging to the 2nd Battalion of the Scots Guards. This is as it should be. There is no more de- lightful music than that of the bagpipers. (if you can get far enough away from them), and when instruments elicit something resembling an air, they yield a special charm that even the brutal Saxon enn by steady practice learn to appreciate. The experiment will be crucial, for three hours is to be the extent of each performance, after which the survivors ought to be counted. Tive and twenty years ago the Zulus decided that the pipes were thy white men's god which they pinched to make him call out for the black, mian's blood,

A BROKEN-DOWN SYSTEM. This is a condition (or disease) to which doctors- give many names, but which few of them really understand. It is simply weakness-a break-down, asit were of the vital forces that sustain the system. No matter what may be its causes (for they are al must numberless), its symptoms are much the same; the more prominent being sleeplessness, sense

iness, depression of spirits and prostration or weariness, want of energy for all the ordinary affairs of life. Now, what alone is absolutely essential in all such cases is increased vitality vigour
