On Dec. 5, at Shanghai, the river gunhat Sumida, for the Japanese Navy, was successfully launched. The Sumida is a shallow-draught river gunboat, and was built in England by Messrs Thorneycroft in ten separate floatable sections. The T. K. K. s.s. Rosetta Maru loft Manila on the morning of 11th Dec., and is expected here on Sunday, tho 13th Dec.
The C. P. R. Co.'s 9.8. Tarlar arrived at Nagasaki at 8 a.m. on Friday, the 11th December, and left again at 3 p.m. on same day for Shanghai, where she is due to arrive at 8 a.m. on Sun- day, the 13th December.
The N. Y. K. 8.8. dakala Maru left Singapore for this port on the 11th December, and is expected to arrive here on the 16th December. The A. A. s.s. Arara is due here on or
