The Company has been formed for the purpose of acquiring land in the Colony of tions and buildings thereon, known as the Hongkong, together with messusgo crec.

Metropole Hotel, and of erecting thereon additional buildings convenient for the pur- pose of a Brewery, and to manage, maintain and carry on the said Brewery and buil dings when rected and constructed.

The Buildings now standing on the land intended to be purchased are suitable with some alteratious for the purposes of a Brewery.

On the tond intended to be purchased is a supply of water in suficient quantitice for the requirements of the browery sud very suitable for brewing purposes, as shown by the analysis of Mr. F." Browne, Government Anslyst at Hongkong, which analysis can be inspected at the registered office of the Cumpiny

After carefully going into the question of expenses, the Promoter, Mr E. A. Mearer, the Manager of Messrs. P. Lemuiro & Co., is confident that with a brewing of 500,000 gallons only a year a dividend of 15 per cont. at the lowest will be payable on the capital of the Company.

No complete statistics are availabis

showing the quantities of European and Japanese Bear imported into Hongkong and China, but there is no doubt that the demand for beer is increasing this the following figures will show :-

19

Japanese Beer imported into China, .1899 gallons 170,260

1900

495,000 1901

732,608 During Bio last three years the Japan Yebísu Brewery Company and the Brewery, which are thes tre largest Breweries in dagan, have paid the following dividends:-

Japan Browery Yebinu Browczy 1809/1900 28%

15905 1400/1901 1901/1902 30%

It is the intentius. of the management, as a beginning, to apply the local markets, and its anticipated that there will be a demand

and from the garrison at Hongkong and front the various morchaut ships which call at Hongkang.

The price for the purchase of the land and buildings thereon intended to be pur chased is $80,000, and it is estimated that the cast of erecting the additional buildings necesary for the Company and for the erection of the plant, &c, will not exceed the sum of $90.180.-

It is believed that the brewery premises will he completed by the month of March 1904, and that the Brewery will be in foli working order by the month of April, 1904,
