INSURANCE COMPONY. IN- GENJOUSLY DEFRAUDED.

A over fraud was recently worked off on the Maunfacturers' Life Insurance Co., of Caunda, at Nara, Japan, which led them to pay out Yes 8,000 on a policy. One Salto was the man who was insured, and diod. Come wecka preouding March lask Baito went to a Nata physician for treatment, when he was found to be offer ing from cancer in the stomach. It seems that an assistant of the doctor was the real originator of the scheme. Knowing that Baito had cancer in the stomach and that the doctor had only given him a few mouths to live, the assistant, Kubo Aklas, suggested to tho insurenco agent Matsuoka a way of making money. Salto was approached, and agreed to be Ensured on condition that yen 200 should be given to his wife at the time of his decoasa,The insurance was effected siter the examination of Saito by the Oska docter, but it appears that cancer in the stomach is very difficult to detect, unieso some hint is given of unfavourable symp. toms. As is now known, Saito really expired a few months afterwards, breath- ing his last at a large house Especially hired. This house was one of the bost

It was obtained of course in order to

The Insurance company has only recovered a portion of the money paid out. A policeman who noticed that the bone was only lot for a few days became suspicious and unearthed the plot.
