Some time was spent by Sir William and Lady Gascoigne meeting their friends, and the party then boarded the launch Tommy Atkins, which looked gay in bunting, and The battery sailed across the harbour.

The Annual Aquatic Sports of the Victoria Recreation Club nre being held this afternoon at the Club's enclosure, Kowloon, an attractive programme, in cluding the Half Mile Championship of the ments have been made to secure the comfort of spectators, and everything within the bounds of reason has been accomplisded. The weather for the opening day was ex wellent for the sport, and if taken as an augury of the success of the meeting, then the Committee will have no reason to be dissatisfied with the result. The pro- grammes for each day are varied, and as variety is interesting, the public will no doubt be ominently satisfied with the racing provided. The sports will bù con- tinued to-morrow, Thursday and Saturday. The main event on Wednesday's list is the 200 Yards Championship of the Colony, and at present N. H. Alves and R. C.
