Speedy Cure Treatment.

Bathe the affected parts with Hot Water and Cuticura Soap, to cleanse the surface of crusts and scales, and soften the thickened cuticle. Dry, without hard rubbing, and apply Cuticura Olatment freely, to allay itching, Irritation, and inflammation, and soothe and heal, and lastlyˇtako Cuticura Resolvent Pills, to cool and cleanse the blood. A single set is often sufficient to cure the most torturing, dis- figuring, itching, burning, scaly, pimply humours, eczemas, rashes, Irritations, and chafings, with loss of hair, when all else fails.

The agonizing Itching and burning of the skin, as in eczema; the fright- ful scaling, as in psoriasis; the loss of hair and crusting of the scalp, as in scalled head; the facial disfigurement, as in pimples and ringworm; the awful suffering of infants and the anxiety of worn-out parents, as in milk. crust, tetter, and salt rheum,—all demand a remedy of almost superhuman virtues to successfully cope with them. It is thus not easy to make a really accurate comparison between engines using steam under different conditions. That taking steam at the higher pressure gains an advantage over and above that legitimate- ly due to its greater temperature range. As matters stand, however, the pressures used in turbine plants are practically the of modern in the case reciprocating -engines, being fixed by the Dr de Laval, it is type of boiler used. truc, has, adds Engineering, driven his turbines with steam generated at pressures of 1600 lb. per square inch or more-a feat which it would not be easy to parallel with a reciprocating steam engine; though it must bo borne in mind that somewhat similar pres- sures are reached in the Diesel oil-engine. which is of the reciprocating type. With turbine machinery there is no difficulty in keeping the engine-room clean; and the staff there has certainly its labours much

LONDON, August 31. The news from the Balkans is conflict ing.

On the one hand, Turkish circles appear more optimistic, and express the hope that the insurrection in the vilayet of Monastir will be crushed in the course of a woek.

On the other hand reports from Sofia declare that the situation is more acute.

The difficulties of the Bulgarian Govern- ment are increasing, as the people resent the efforts of the Government to prevent srmed bands crossing the frontier.

The revolt at Adrianople is so far suc- cessful that the insurgents now occupy all the points on the Black Sea coast.
