NEW more cheerful live than the bearer of this sinister name. Mr Charles Death lives near the Buckminster ironstone mine at Lowstein, Lincolnshire, England. How his life was saved from imminent peril is rolated by him in the Grantham Adortiser:

Three years ago 1 was attacked most severely with sciatica, and had it not been for Dr Williams' pink pills for pale people I believe I should not-now bo alive The pain extended from the hip to the foot, giving intense pain, and quite incapacitated Mr Death went on to say me for work.' that he had medical treatment of the usual kind for six months. He also used out- ward applications but without effect. At last in his extremity Dr Williams' pink pills were tried, and he soon found that at last he had something which touched the seat of Before his pain, and gave him relief. finishing the first box ho was considerably better. Before the third was empty the pain had gone, and he was able to report himself as completely cured. The pills are not purgative, but on the contrary, strongthi- ening. The third box was finished by his wife, who was then suffering from severe headache, and who thought that what removed pain in one part of the body might also eradicate it in another. She was right: the pills gave her complete relief. Mr Death is an active man of thirty-eight years of age, and has since what he regards as his wonderful recovery, had no recurrence of his trouble, and is as strong and vigerous

as over.

This straightforward and manly testimony was unhesitatingly given, with the full knowledge that it would be published to the world So many people have found in Dr Williams pink pills for pale people a cure for rheumatism, sciatica, paralysis, the ailments that especially afflict ladies, anemia, kidney disease, and skin ocup rious, that the roll of those who bear cheer. ful testimony to the merits of the genuine pills, and who never fail to warn the public

We are indebted to the Hon. Sir Paul Chater, Kt., C.M.G., for the use of the Misslowing documents relating to the public petition in favour of the removal of the Admiralty Dock and Naval Tand to a tnore suitable site outside the city of Victoria:

Rev. and Mrs G. W. Greene, of the American Baptist Mission, have issued in. vitations to the matringe of their daughter, Miss Anna McIver Greene, to Mr Samuel Robert Moore. The ceremony will take place at Union Church, Hongkong, on Wednesday, the 1uth inst., at noon. Greene is herself a popular member of the Baptist Mission, and has worked alone for some time at Shiu-hing on the West River. Sho came to China when quite young, and so easily acquired the language and was op pointed as a regular missionary about five years ago. Her father, Dr Greene, was a prominent educator in his nativa State, and came to China some ten years ago to engage in theological training work. Mr Moore is in the Hongkong Civil Service. TROUBLE ABOUT A DOG.

Pedro Nolasco Sequira, of No. 32 Elgin Street, Victoria, proceeded against Felix Lorris, of Robinson Road, Victoria, for the return of a brown pointer dog, or in the alternative the payment of $200 damages.

Mr F. X. D'Almada appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr E. J. Grist (of Messrs Wilkinson and Grist) for defendant,

Mr D'Almada stated that the dog, the subject of the action, belonged to Mr Ehmer, who was formerly in Mess Meyer and Co., where plaintiff was assistant. Al Ehmer subsequently left the firm and joined Messrs Grossman and Co., but before doing so plaintiff asked him to give him the dog Mr Ehmer promised that he would give plaintiff the dog before he left the Colony. Sometime in December last Mr Ehmer sent for the plaintiff and told him that he was about to go home, and said I will give you this dog. Plaintiff thanked Mr Elmer, and suggested that he had better retain the dog until he went, so as to save any trouble

I have now the honour to hund Your Excellency this petition, with the request that you will bo pleased to forward it to the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonics, and would further ask that Your Excellency be good enough, as Loon as possible, to telegraph a summary of the petition to London.

In conclusion I would beg on behalf of this Community to express our gratitude for the kindly sympathy Your Excellency has shown to us in this matter, and to express the hope that with, your able assistance the great improvement for the Colony advocated in our petition may be carried out.—I have &c..
