SIR, The Plague is around us again in full force, and all we can see or hear of is cases here and cases there, and gangs of
conveyances, and ambulances, going and Government coolies, clothes baskets, dead
coming all day long through our public thoroughfares.
The disease is making upward strides daily, and in almost every part of the Colony one can see the Disinfecting Gangs, and cleansing it in streets scarcely less taking filthy furniture from filthy houses, filthy, and this apparently is all that is being done toward stopping or preventing the disease.

That in turn will be followed by an improvement in business all round and 30,000 in particular by a revival of shipments of produce and of the export trade from Manila to China in which this Company must be the first to share.
The final arrangements for electrifying the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway system between Liverpool and Southport are now in course of being made by Messrs Dick Kerr and Company (Limited), the Company's engineers for the work, and this line will be dio first of its kind put into operation in England, as it will be opened during the current year.
