Dewey's Indiscretion.
New York, 29-A published interview with Admiral Dewey with respect to the crested ability of the Gorman Navy, has
a furore in diplomatic circles and it is possible that the President will have to disipline the Admiral for what is regarded as a decidedly undiplomatic statement.
The intereview uredits the Admiral with having said that the German navy was in every way inferior to that of America and that in case of a war the United States would undoubtedly have the advantage. Dowey went on at home length to specify the points in which the German navy was lacking, and made some very positive criticisms of the Kaiser's fieót.
The German ambassador has already Isid the matter before the President and it is expected that the Admiral will at least bo reprimanded.

The German press has taken up the matter and almost unanimously assails Dewey. The recogniz ed Agrarian press is especially venomous and takes the ground that if “Mr Daway thinks the American Navy is superior he ought to have an opportunity to try the question.
Admiral Dewey has not dented the authenticity of the interview nor made any explanation of it. It is believed that his

For a long time we have been giving a little help to needy ones in a quiet way, but for over three weeks we have had a systematic distribution of food once a day When the numbers who came outgrew our Mission Chapel, the officials granted the use of the Emperor's temple. Tickets are given to apparently needy persons as they leave the building, in exchange for which cach gets a quart of thick rico gruel or four ounces of rice, as they pass through the outside gate.
For three weeks ending March 20, the average number fed per day has been 1,540, and the largest number any day was 3,047. Although these crowds have been large, yet the people have been quiet, orderly, and grateful for the help received, and there are very fow of the low gambling class among them.

There they are, playing about the corridors just like ordinary children They have their dolls and other childish toys, and are no more like the children you see at night, than the moon is like green cheese. And their tastes are as simple as possible. The mayor of Manila took little Daplino into an Indian curio shop on the Escolta, Manils, Now, Daphine, the shop is yours. Buy whatever you want.
