Why women should be so unhealthful, space will not permit of discussion here. But it is a fact. Their systems are debilit-" ated, all-run-down and need toning up. The stimulating effects of a tonic and tissue builder are required.

Stearns Wine of Cod Liver Oil fills the bill and will produce marvellous results in many cases, Stearns Wine restores health and vivacity, builds up the system with new and healthy tissues and banishes the raging, indescribable pains. It has become famous for its cures of these diseases over a large part of the civilized world. The most flattering testimonials have been received, giving accounts of its good works; of the aggravating and per- sistent coughs it has cured; of severe colds that have yielded promptly to its soothing effects, and of the dangerous attacks of croup it has cured, often saving the life of the child. The extensive use of it for whooping cough has shown that it robs that disease of all dangerous results. It is especially prized by mothers because it contains nothing injurious and there is not the least danger in giving it, even to babies. It always cures and cures.quickly. For

Although no systematic development work up to the presont has been carried out on these Concessions, they have been judiciously selected by oxports from a very large number of prospected mining districts in what is believed to be the richest part of the Yangtazo Basin. ANOTHER HOUSE COLLAPSE.

One Man Killed. Shortly after two o'clock this afternoon, the houses Nos. 12 and 14 Tung Loi Lane, at the back of Winglok Street, and near the Harbour Master's Office, collapsed, burying some men in the debris The police and fire brigade, under Captain Lyon and Mr A. Mackie, turned out to render assistance, and at considerable risk to themselves aucceeded in rescuing three men alive. All were more or less injured, but none of them so badly as to necessitate removal to Hospital. One poor fellow, ́a bricklayer, was killed. He was pinned over a wall by a heavy beam, and before the body could be removed the bear had to be sawn apart. The spinal column appear. ed to be broken, and death must have been instantaneous. The three others had n

Celebration of the King's Birthday.

To-day, November 10, the Canton papers are congratulating the Einpress-Dowager on attaining another birthday, and the Hongkong Chinese nowspapers, true to their origin, congratulate that Lady na woll as King Edward VII. on the return of the natal day. Beyond Chinese officials and govornment collages, the people have no part or lot and evidently no interest, unless a molancholy one, in celebrating a birthday that has abundantly proved to havo been fraught with powers that have so mightily affected China, and which are by no means spent.

Judging by the very hearty and truly cosmopolitan celebration of King Edward VII's birthday in this compact little.com- munity, it is perhaps not too largo an inference to say that His Majesty is grow. ing in the esteem of nations outside the British Empire.

As the re-opening of Parliament next Thursday draws nearer, the battle of the Education Bill waxes louder. MEDICAL TESTIMONIALS :—

Dr B. O'BRIEN, M.D., Civil Surgeon," Faizabad, says Mr N. Lazarus, optician, examined piy vision to-day, and I have much pleasure in testifying to the accuracy with which he determined the proper glasses for me to wear. His method of examination is a very ingenious and ao. curate one, and by it he should be able to ascertain the proper glasses for the cor rection of all the errors of refraction met with in the eye.

Surgeon-Major G. C. HALL, in charge of. the Eye Hospital, Allahabad, says :-I have tested your Patent Refraction Test, and find it remarkably good and accurate, and I think it should prove very useful to all who are called upon to treat errors of refraction, specially Astigmatism, which is common and yet so frequently over. looked.
