Scientific investigations have revealed the true nature and composition of cod ivor oil, which have been thoroughly, verified by experience. No longer is it necessary to force down a dose of nause. ating, repulsive cod liver oil to get its medicinal effects. The extractives-the tonic, curative, re-building part-may be taken separately in a pleasantly palatable form and with far better result. The grease the oil-is not only useless, but is 4 undesirable and often detrimental.
Stearns' Wine of Cod Liver Oil
is unexcelled as a tonis and reconstructive. It is free from oily matter-devoid of any intimative of cod liver oil, yet is the most 2174 effective preparation of the latter ever offer-

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28, 1902.
His face wore a shade of anxiety. He dutched his cigar nervously.
"You don't happen to have a telegraph
or a long-distanco telephono ncur hero, do you?' he asked. Fact is, I came away yesterday and forgot an important matter." Wa 'No. sir,' said the proprietor, haven't such things around. This, as you know, is a place for complete rest, as advertised.'
Very well, sir,' said Tipton, you can make out my bill.'
Hoglared fiercely around him and walked
upstairs to his room.
My dear,' would you mind if we got out of this prehistoric place on the first brain?'
Mrs Tipton gazed at him blankly for a moment and threw her arms around his neck,
Mind she exclaimed. Why, I was only staying here for your sake. I didn't dare say how lonesome I was! I am afraid, my dear, we have never lived in the country long enough to appreciate it.'
Two hours later they wero in the dining car of the Long Branch express, with the remains of a feast and a cold bottle be- tween them.
"I've wired the boys to send me the mail,' said Tipton. I will talk with the cashier over the wire as soon as we get in.
I see the market opened up strong this morning. And now, if you will excuse me,
I'll step in the smoking room with this bundle of papers and catch up on twenty- four hours' lost time.'
