Now. in these days of ultra-liberal thought and of absolute freddow of indivídual action, it would be useless and inadvisable to seek for a moment to cavil at any personal in terpretation of Sunday observance. En the olden days, when Purilanic notions sad practices were the rule, the standard of observance was such as to cause the modern world to wonder why good men were then content to endure rules of a character so strict and so depressing. Very many really good men and tender-hearted women must have lived in those days, and did what they deemed to be their duty cuder the torrible influence of a semi-Sinaitic interpretation of Christian truth. The modern Anglo Saxon phase of Ubristian belief is very different from either the Puritania or the Parisian, and leads to a more rational and more cheerful interpretation of the great question of Sunday observance.
