SURVEY of a section of the Souther
Eutrance to the Yanga, about 20 railos in length and extending from abreast of the Triplets to within two miles of the Tungahs Taghtship, which was comploted on the 15th instant, shows that the derpust and safeat claquel for vessels is new to the north-sant ward of the Kio Lightship instead of to the south-weatward of her, as formerly.
DIRECTIONS.
To make the best direct courses: pána 2 cables to the south-westward of the Tung- the Lightship and then bring her to bear about S. * E, true, and keep her 40 until the Krut Lightship is sighted on the opposite bearing continuing on the anme course till the latter is about thres miles distant whoa House Islaul Beacon will bear N.E. Then keep a little to the Berth-eastward and pass the Kintoan Light- ship at a distance of from 1 to 4 cables, hauling to the westward as to bring the Hightship to bar about S. 63 E., by the time she is one mile distant, and bocp- ing bor on that bearing til at is 6 mile distant, when the vertel will be a little to the north-cast ward of mid-channel, with the Kiutoan Small Beacha boaring about W. by 8. from which position to the Woosung Onice Bar the present Brilish Admiralty Chart No. 1602 may be followed.
Tho luuat depths of water, at low waAURIT of spring tides, found on the track above indicated wore 21 fees at 24 miles insida the Tungaha Lightebip, then from 22 to 28 foot till abreast of Housu Island Beacon, decreasing to 18 Evet in the vicinity of the Kialoan Lightbip, where a bar, 2 miles in width between the 18 feet contours, has boon formed by the junction of the former -Middle Ground with the Blockhouse Shoal, After parsing this bar, the water gradually doepens to falltotos at 4 miles inside the Kistoan Lightship.
