THE GYMKHANA. Saturday's Gymkhana meeting was about the most successful ever held in Hong.

Everything was favourable; the kong. weather was as good as summer could give, the financial support was strong, the at- tendance was large, and the sport turned out excellent.

One of the principal events of the day was the defeat of the favourite Glengarn, in the Three Quarters, by the aerratic Duart, The Mile Handicap was a fine close race throughout, and Mr. Hart Buck did well to get Viper home first.

The following were the results in the Farious competitions :-

PONY RACE, THREE QUARTER MILE RACE; for all China ponies; woight for inches a per scale with 10 lbs. added; subscription griffins allowed 10lbs. Bona Fide Polo Ponies allowed 15 lbs.; winners at a gymkbata meeting of this Season, for each race,

behind.

(Mr Cruickshank) 0 Silver King got away with the lead, close- ly attended by Duart, Viper lying back a little. At the 1-mile pcst, Viper got into second place, and raced hard with Silver King up the hill. There was a keen struggle until fairly in the Straight, when Silver King cracked, and Viper shot

ahead and maintained his load to the end.

Duart gat in second, a length behind the winner and a length and a half in front of the third pony. -
