Mr P. H. Wheeler, the Superintendent H of the Company, has been for many years engaged in developing watch-making machinery, and the testimonials from his former employers testify this baziness ability, skill and integrity. The machinery of Which the founders are possessed bas beep perfected under his saporintendence and a considerable part thereot is of his invention.
Besides the Machinery the founders are parsoused of ten thousand watches in various stage of completion which are the out barn of the said Machinery and mate- rial on hand sufficient to turn out about twohly.fire thousand more. It will thus be seen that it is not an untried plant which the founders have acquired, but one which has already gives proefs of ita excel lence. It was only the advantage of obtaining cheaper labour marke: than
can be found in the United States that has Induced them to work the businus in
Гарап.
it is an established fact that the principal factories in the United Sistes in covon years paid 300 per cent, dividend on capital of Six Million Dohrs: and that was done on a wago basin of $1.60 (gold) per operative, the factories smpleying six thou- sand handa. If the differazos in the rato of labour in this country is taken into non- sideration the operations of tho Company will be sured to realise to the fail the expectations of the founders. The profita of watch, making are baned intirely on tho prios of labour,
It is not in the labour market only that an advantage will
obtained. Cosi and sther materials on be purchased in this country at a lower rate than in the United
States. And besides all these advantogos, which are great, there in one of still greater importance, the knowledge to be obtained
of this requirements of the local trade, of the trade for China, and that of 'The Straits' and India. The Cappany will be capable of supplying a watch of the best workmanship to the population of these largo and important countries at a price far below any watch of liko character that has Bvor best offered to these merkota.
Taking into consideration them advan- Lagoa the founders confidently expect to pay a dividend of at least 10 per cent per annum on the first two youre' work, and thereafter dividends at a much higher rate. The Company has been registered in Hongkong as a Limited Company.
The founders take and squire 30,000 shares of the atook of the Company in pay- ment for the machinery, plant and stock and tucir labour and experience in preparing and procuring the machinery and stock,
Ten thoumad shares of twenty-five yen each are offered for subscription.
The memorandum and articles of associo- ⚫tion of the Company may to inspected at the offices of the Company, No. 10 Band,
Yokohama,
Applications for shares should be made on forms annexed to the Prospectus aud should be forwarded to the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation accompanied by a romittance for the amount of the de. ponit.
