and which is supported by the tele- gram repeived through Routere agener. which appears in this evening's issue→→ shows that the Franco-Siamose quarrel has reached a very acute stage. Our correspondent wires that war in ex- pected to be declared soon. -War his often bean, declared between nations for much less cause than that which exists in the case of France and Siam, yet we can hardly think it likely that the Mekong question will be pushed to that extrema The Paknam incident --- was serious enough, no doubt, but if it was merely the result of a misunder |standing ——us, it seems to have been-
