This man was in Gaol for ex- bezzlement of 840,000 and had been a wealthy merchant in Singapore. In his case the habit was entirely ignored. For the first few days he suffered from want of sleep, but it was from anxiety more than anything else, for he had bean told that if he gave up the habit enddenly he would die, and he was pre- portionally disgusted when nothing happened, as he said if he had known. at would cost him so little he would have given up the habit long ago Ho was a stout strongly-built man, of about 221 fifty years of age, and the largest con
