THE PROSECUTION OF THE
·OPIUM FARMER.
640
BEG to express through your columes my deep regret that I should in a hasty moment, in consequence of my not being able to read or understand Chinese accounts, have commenced a procecution against Mr. KOH CHENG SEAN, the ohiof manager of the late Opium Farm, with reference to the funds of the CHEANG TEK KONG SER. A com pleto investigation into the matter and A careful examination of the books and accounts have thoroughly convinced me that my suspicious were wholly groundless, and that there has been nothing whatever in Mr. KOH CHENG SEAN'S man- of the business of the egement OPIUM FARM that is in any way repre hensible; and further, that he has all along been doing his best, honestly and faithful- y, for the benefit of the CHEANG TEK KONG SEE.

I should be obliged if you would inser: 0.75 this letter in your correspondence column 1.00 one, and afterwards as an advertisement for the period of one melth, as I am suxious to undo as far as possible any jury I may have, through my lasty and unjustifiable action, inflicted upon Mr.
