THE SANITARY CONDITION OF THE |

WESTERN DISTRICT

The following raport by the Sanitary Superintendon (Mr Hugh McCallum), on the recommandations of the Force Com- mission with respect to the Western Dia trict, was submitted at Inst meeting of the Banitary Board

DISPOSAL OF THE DEAD, The best way of dealing with this matte would be by framing bye-laws under sub- section 18 of section 13f the Health Or dinance, and than seeing that such bye-laws are strictly enforced The corner of Mount Davis specially referred to in the petition which caused the appointment of the Fever Commission could be put in a fairly satis- factory condition by executing such level- ling as would give the bill-aiden fairly even aurines, and then turting this surface. The coat of this work would not be very great.

THE SQUATTERS' VILLAGE. Paragraph 4.-In April last action was taken under the Crown Lease for Inland Lot 785 and the land has been cleared of unauthorised dwellings ote. No nuisanes is known to exist there at the present time.

THE DRYING OF SUGAR BAGS ON TUZ HILL. SIDE.

Puragraph This matter is primarily question of trespass, The Land Bailiff and Police will have no great difficulty in preventing any nuisance arising from

tions carried on by means of tresptes un Crown Land. So far as I know, there is no nuisance of this naturo at the present time.

However, this is a point on which legal advice should be obtained be- fore any action is taken.

If a Householder places 12 servanta iz quarters constructed to give accommoda tion to G servants, such Householder is the person responsible for the over-crowding caused by auch action.
