A TAILOR Bamed Wong Yuk Sun, whà hàn his shop in Ui Un Lane, was brought to the Central Police Station in a chair this morning, sufering from a large and dan gorons gaah to his left hand. He had up. pareatly lost an enormous quantity of blood, and although the wound had been roughly bandaged it was still bleeding copionely. He was at once sont to the Government Civil Hospital, where he arrived in a very weak state. He was able to explain how the wound had been in ficted, and his story was applemented and corroborated by the people belonging to his shop, who had seen what took place. - It appears that four or five men, all of thems unknown to him, entered the shop while he was at work, and one of them drawing a Jong shaath knife tried to stab hins with it There had apparently been no altercation, no words having passed, and the shopman. was entirely taken by surpris. In trying to protect himself with big laft hand, he received the wound from which he was unf aring. The misoraantarushed from the shop at once and disappeared. No tasoon for the assault could be assigned by anybody in the shop, except that the man who need the knife and his companions were the emissaries of a trade guld. From what is known of the methods of such susisties in the Colony and the impanity with which they are allowed to purens them, this is an stplanation which would naturally anggent itself. It is only about a week ago sizne another tailor, in Wellington Brest, vas attacked in a similar way because he used a sowing machine and refund to pay black mail to a guild that disspproved of sewing machines; and the other day & number of quarry workers were compelled to atop work - and conie out on strike at the command It is reported that the Foreign Minister of a band of raflans comminaianed
