the wants of many students of Chinese caused by the discontinuance of 'Notes and Queries on China and Japan,' has renched ita | Fourteenth Volume. Tho Review disse (these topics which are uppermost in the minds of studouts of the Far East' and abont which every intelligent person con- aucted with Chitta or Japan is desirous of aoquiring trustworthy information. It in- cludes many interesting Notos and original Papera on iho Arte, ciencos, Ethnology, Folklore, Geography, Bistory, Literature, Mythology Natural History, Antiquities, arul Social Mannore and Customs, etc., etc., of China, Japan, Mongolia, Tibot, and the Far East generally. Recently & new de- parture has been taken, and the Review now gives papers on Trade, Commerce, and Descriptive notes of Travel by well-known writer. It was thought that by extending the scope of the Review in this direction, the Magazine would be mademore generally useful.

The Review department recoisas special attention, and endeavours are made to Presnt & careful and concise record of Literature on China etc., and to give critiques embodying sketches of the Most Anthors and recent works on such topics. Publishers are requested to forward works to Editor, China Kariu, care of China
