This systent has already made ravid pro- gress in Japaz, where it is much catcemed for its efficiency and economy. A plant of 75 16-candle power lamps has been in suc- cessful operation for many months at the Ofice of the Official Gazette, Tokio, under the management of Japanese, who had only one week's training for the work. These have been in use on an average 11 lampa hours daily, at a coat of about he

A plant of 825 10-candle power lampa is in us at the cation factory of the Dsaka, Bosske Commoy, and the cost of roaning has been found to be less than one-third of auent per laap hour.

The total cost of lighting the factory per

year is $5,553, against an estimated cust by vil of $5,000, tha Electric light having the advantage of groster brilianey, standiness, and perfect safety. These estimates in- olude an allowance of 8% interest on cost of the installation, and the usual west and tear.
