The Directors hope that by the date of the Mosting they may have something of a definite nature to communicate to tho Shareholders regarding these negotiation; at present the position may be briefly samimed up as fellows An offer was made from London for the purchase of the whole property of the Company, for £25,000, the Farohuse being dependent upon a favour- able report upon the property by a Mining Engineer, but with a further stipulation attached requiring the Company to give the refusal of the property for four months after receipt in London of the Engineer's report; this atipalation in the epinine of E Undaraigued, Aosses of the above the Directors rendered the offerimpossible of acccptance and it wasdeclined. Negotiations are now being carried on throng suother channel, but so nothing definite is known; a tolegrum has been received saying that the reporta upon the samples of ord are considered satisfactory and that negotia tions are proceeding The Directors regret that they have so little of a riefnice nature to lay before the Shareholders, but it is still satisfactory to know that man account of attention is now being attracted to Selams Lode, which it is reasonable to koso will lead to satisfactory results.

A meeting on 21st instant de Dired- tors will propose a resolution empowering them to deal with the property at their dis- cretion; upon this rosolation they desire to hare the filest discussion in order that they may be guided by the wishes of the Shareholders, as far as gircumstances will allow, in conducting the negotiations.

The Chairman'said, with the permission of the goutleuren present, they would take the Report as real, as it had been in their handa for more than a fortnight. The udor for the purchase of the Company's property was one for a considerable sus, £25,000, but it was coupled with a condi- tion which after a careful examination was found to ogo which the Directors could not accept, acting as they did in the interests of the whole Company. The offer stipulated for the refusal of the property for a period which might extend up to 31st De cember of the present year; a very long pe riad during which it would be necessary to.
