THE NEW CATTLE DISEASE ACT.

The following is the full text of the new ordinance dealing with cattle disease, passed at the mouting of the Legislativo

An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice of the Le- zislative Council thereof, entitled The Cattle Disease Ordinance, 1886.

18th November, 1885. Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong- kong with the advice of the Legislative Council theroof, ag follows

1. Whenever it is made to appear to the Gavardor in Council that cattle disense prevails in this Oulony, or that there is im- mediate danger of cattle disease) being in- troduced into the Colony, the Governor in Council may declare by Proclamation to he published in the Gasette that the Colony shall be subject to the following provisions of this Ordinance, and every such Procla mation abail romain in forse until cancelled further order of the Governorin Coun- by a cal published in the Garette.

3. The Governor in Council may at discretion pay ont of the public revonuce fair compensation for the destruction of any cattle which are destroyed under the provisions of this Ordinance and which are proved to the satisfaction of the Governor in Council to have bean actually in the Colony at any time when the provisions of the Ordinance are brought into force.

4. Any person who impodes an Inspector of Markets or any other Officer appointed under this Ordinance to carry out the orders made by the Governor in Council under this Ordinance or does anything is contravention of any of such orders shall be liable ou summary conviction thereof before a Magistrate to a penalty not exceeding 8200, or to imprisonment with or without hard labour for a term aut exceeding months.

Defendant entered the Wo Shing shop, Bonham Strand, about 1 p.m. on the 18th, and said he wanted to buy a pair of trousers. Ha-did He did not agree to the priso charged and the shop.
