Tramways in the City of Nos. 62172

Hong kong. Two Special Ordinances and 18 of 1883) have been passed by the Legislative Council and the Government authorizing the construction and working of the same

Victoria is very favourably adapted for easy gradients of its principal street, (the Tramways, owing to its configuration, the

main thoroughfare from the East to the West ends, along which the Tramways will. bo laid), and the immense acessant traffic.

The Tramways will be constructed in the best and most substantial manner, and with all the latest improvements, with steel guder rails, bedded in concrete, but no wood or other perishabla materin! will be vised

The Tramways szq intended to be worked. by Steam Traction, such being much more oconomical, trastworthy, and under more effectual control, having more power of overcoming gradients, and giving better re. sults (pecuniary and otherwise) than horse, *pressed air, skotricity or other motive
