THE POLICE HULK DESTROYED BY FIRE.
This morning, the wooden halk which vas used as a Water Police Station, and which has been a very familiar object in the harbour for many years past, was en tirely destroyed, partly by fire and partly by means of a torpedo. Luckily the mishap has not been attended by any loss of life or by any serious injury to any one The exact locality in which the firo origiu ated or its cause are not known at present; but Sergeant Jones, who was the first to observe it, says when he awoke he saw a thin volume of smoke ascending on the portaido of the 'tween dock of the hulk!
With respect to the origin of the fire wo muy mention that in the lower hold, whore it is supposed to have started, there is no thing but stone ballast.
