Indeed, at may safely be said that the ravelation made in this blue-book is one which cannot fail to strike the most careless reader as in most unique example of what our Colonial system is capable.. It is clear that the dissatisfaction at the fountain head of power has been almo it as freely expressed as has the general discontent of Hongkong residents even it is most bitter outbursts. And full the relief to which all this accumulated displeasure mistakeably points does not come, and Sir J. Pope Hennessy is now the occupier of the official residence and in the possession of the smojuments thereunto belonging. Men possessed of sensitive temperaments regard official rebuffs in a light which materially differa from that of men differently constituted. Hence the effusion from the Committee in London for the Repeal of the English C. D. Act, and the one sided expressions of opinion from other "an- official persons to whom the so-called impartial revelations of Colonial iniquity had been carefully conveyed. It is curione to note the difficulty presented to Governot Hennessy in reconciling his horror at the disclosures of the O. D. O.
