It becomes difficult to see what weight enn be given to this "advice" of such a body as the Executive Council, when its Pre ident is found at one time parading the support it gives him, and at the next discurding its unauimung voice, Under the circumstances, itantis factory to learn that the facts connected with this case were placed before the proper authorities at Home, and that the fallest information will therefore be in the possession of those interested in matters commercial in London. In reference to the printed papers in this case, bow- ever, there is apparently a missing link somewhere, which may or may not be important. In the extract from the report by the Acting Colonial Secretary and Acting Registrar General, dated the 28th April, these gentlemen state this. they were preparing to leave, when 1iis Excellency's Minute of the 20th was received. This was shown to the Emigration Officer, who was also in- formed that it would be communicated a lica in the usual official way?" Now, this was after Dr Eitel had left the Board of Three, and, taking an orbit of his own, had sailed off to his Chief for fresh instructions; and yet the only Minute published dated the 20th April has a special reference to "all these papers, and must have been quite an other document written subsequently to tlint referred to by Dr. Stewart and Mr Gerrard. It would be interesting. to know whether or not this Minute Was of special value or of sufficient inportance to justify its suppression. There is one point in connection with
