The case wo referred to on Saturday, in which- Chinese boy accused a European resident of an attempt to commit an un- natural offence, and a counter-summons had been taken out by the European in question against the boy and an amah for conspiring to extort money by maklog a false accusation, again occupied the Court to-day. "After all the evidenca had been heard the Magistrate, Hon, C. B. Plunket, committed the accused European (Thomas Ide Bowler) for trial before the Su. preme Court, and intimated that bail in $100 would be accepted. The prisoner stated that he did not desire to ask anyone to stand bound for him and would prefer to remalo in custody. This preliminary investigation has been conducted with closed doors owing to the nature of the evidence that had to be heard.
