INQUEST.

The adjourned inquest on the body of James Riddell, mate of the junk Wrecker was resumed to-day. Mesars W. Vinton, G. Raynal and W. Ross cotaprised the Jury.

Dr. Wbarry, was examined; he said :-- The deceased was brought to the hospital at midnight on the 2nd inst.; I examined the body on the 3rd. it had been dead about 24 hours, It was that of a European male, about 30 years of age, fairly well nourished. There were no marka of violence on the body. I opened the body and found the stomach much gongested, and a small quantity of pinkish semi-opaque fluid; the kidneys were congested; and from the state >of the internal organs, and the evidence of the Captain, I should judge that death resulted from an overdose of ether.

In reply to the Coroner, the Doctor said: -I think, judging from the evidence of the Captain, depensed was suffering from delirium tremens; a person so suffering would seldoni be in his right mind.

The Jury said they were satisfied with the evidence. The deceased. was evidently in an unsound state of mind when he took the ether. A verdict of suicide whilst in an unsound state of mind" was recorded.
