To the Editor of the "CHINA MAIL,”
March 7, 1879. SIR,-As a member of one of the teams engaged, in the final tug yesterday, may request sufficient space in your paper, to express my disgust, (and I may safely say, that of many others), at the vulgarity dis- played by your morning contemporary in recording the event.
Surely it would have been as easy, (it would certainly have been in better taste) to have printed "Garmans" or "Teutons instead of "Sour Kraut," and "Scotch" lustead of "Porridge," and the change would assuredly have been appreciated by
those interested.
