THE news conveyed in the telegram we publish to-day is probably quite as grave as the wording of the telegram would indicate, LA British regiment has been almost annihilated by the Zulus; sixty British officers have been killed; and Natal is considered in great danger. We pointed out in an article a few days ago that the Zulu King, Cetewayo, was be. lieved to have at his command an army of about fifty thousand warriors, trained to warfare from youth, and armed more or less with fire-arms. We also stated that the British commander, General Thenger, would require to exercise his greatest akill in manoeuvring his handful of troops, defending a line about 200 miles in length, against the Zulu bost. A catastrophe, more direful than could have been imagined here or at home, baa occurred. The latest advices from the Cape state that the 1st Battalion of the 24th, had joined the 2nd Bat talion of the 3rd Buffs at Fort Wil Ramson, situated on the river Tugela, within a fow miles of its mouth.
