The subject is one of some importance because it is a yearly recurring nuisance, It may be questioned whether it is no cessary to permit even the whole of one night to be made hideous with this uproar. "We offer mo objection to our "Celestial" friends eitting up all night on such occasions į gorging pork and sweatmeats, and dun- ning unfortunate debtors until they pay or collapse, but it seems to us that when these gentle "pagans " are permit ted to deprive respectable inhabitants of this Colony of two nights sleep with their heathenish practices it time for another public meeting to be held to pass a few more remarks on the mizerable way in which the peace and order of this Colony are maintained." It is doubtless highly satisfactory to have all the evil spirits frightened away from the place, but on the whole we believe foreign residents would prefer to have a few ghouls and fallen angela floating round than the infliction of this feu d'enfer for forty-eight hours.
