What was the object of putting such ques- tione? evidently not to test the methods of teaching, or the knowledge of the pupils, but rather, I am afraid, to attack the school, and, if that were possible, to diminish public confidence in its teachers.
It offered besides an opportunity which was gladly taken advantage of to attack with evident zest the capabilities of Mr Stewart and his associates to teach chemistry, Not to speak of the heroism of attacking an absent man, I would ask you and your readers to note the honourable position of Mr Stewart when asked to teach chemistry.
