At the annual meeting of the shareholders of the P. and O. Steam Navigation Com pany, the report, already published, was adopted, and the dividend and bonus re- commended wore deglated.

The meeting of the creditors of W. Fariat, which had been fixed for Saturday laat, has not been held, as the telegrama forwarded by the solicitors of the bankrupt arm to the senior partner, now in the Far East, remain unanswered. The day for the intended meeting has not yet been fixed.

Chief Constable MCall, of the Glasgow Police, by request of the Öolonial Govern ment, has made a selection of constables to proceed to Hongkong to join the fores there. Last year twenty men were taken out, and the number required on the pro sont occasion is eighteen. For these vacancies there were over sixty applicants from the different divisions of the fores and those selected are fine stalwart They will proceed to Hongkong next week.
