Owing to the sad news received by telegram last night, of the death of Princess Louis of Hesse (Alice Maud Mary of England), minute gans were tired to-day from the Battery: while the flage at Government House, over the various Compulates, and those of all the ships in harbour, were flown at baif-mast. Mr Wotten submitted that there was no reliable evidence to prove the possession by the defendant of the stampa which were admittedly unlawfully obtained from the Stamp Office, and asked that the summons be dismissed.

The Magistrate decided to proceed with the cass, and evidence was then called for the defence, which proved that defendant was at the Glas-works at the time he was said to have been at the Stamp Agency. Mr Francis therefore dismissed the osse.
