NAGABAKI,

(Rising Sun.)

It is with great regret that we record the death of Mr W. M. Boss, who expired after a sudden illness of about six hours. He was an old resident of Nagasaki, and had for some years past been engaged in business as a barber. Many of his old customers and friends will be sensible of his loss, and his death will leave another blank in the Settle- meat. He died on Monday morning about 1.0 a.m. and was interred at the cemetery in the afternoon of the following day.—

Those who are interested in the completion of the dock at Tategami will be glad to hear that the temporary wooden dam, rendered necessary by the accidental flooding of the dock which happened on the last day of June, has been successfully placed in posi- tion, and that the erection of the shores has been commenced. It is hoped that in a few days this will be completed, when the water will be pumped out of the dock, and the esisson which now lies on its side at the bottom will be restored and repaired. So that we look forward to a short time only elapsing before this magnificent work may be said to be finished.
