ADAYINQUEST.**

Ax inquest was held this afternoon at the Magistracy, on the body of Sum Un-chung, a prisoner in the Gaol, before the Coroner (C. V. Creagh, Esq.), and the following gentlemen as a Jury, Mosers J. Humby, C. Hurst, and J. N. Grossmann. The do- ceased was undergoing a sentence of six months hard labour for larceny. He was sentenced on the 16th January of this year. His character was very indifferent, and he received the usual gaol punishment five times, but he was never flogged. He was admitted to Hospital on the 16th instant.

Dr Ayres proved the cause of death, which was disease of the heart. He said. he made a report of the case to. H. E. the Governor, but did not recommend his re- lease as he had no friends and would not be likely to receive proper attention. There are several men in the Gaol suffering from the same complaint. The deceased bad been twice in Hospital and was always un- der treatment as an out-patient.

OF LAST NIGHT.

The thunder-storm of last night was one of the most terrific that has ever been experienced in this Colony, and as might have boon expected bas caused no little damage to property.
